Background and aim: Considering the role of psychological problems such as cognitive distortion, lack of self-compassion, psychological capital, and decreased psychological well-being in adolescent girls with anxiety, they need appropriate psychological interventions to prevent its inappropriate consequences in later ages; therefore, the aim of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of self-healing training on cognitive distortion, self-compassion, psychological capital, and psychological well-being of adolescent girls with anxiety symptoms.
Materials and methods: The research method is a semi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test-follow-up design with a control group, which was conducted purposefully on 30 teenage girls with anxiety syndrome in Torbatjam city in 2024. To collect data, Luthans et al.'s psychological capital questionnaire (2010), Ryff's psychological well-being questionnaire (1989), Neff's self-compassion questionnaire (2003), and Ellis' cognitive distortion questionnaire (1998) were used. Self-healing training was carried out during 8 sessions of 90 minutes on the experimental group (twice a week). The collected data were analyzed by variance analysis with repeated measurements using spss software version 23.
Findings: The results showed that self-healing training reduced cognitive distortion and increased self-compassion, psychological capital, and psychological well-being of adolescent girls with anxiety syndrome, and had a lasting effect in the follow-up phase (p≤0.05).
Conclusion: The findings indicate that self-healing training can be used as an effective intervention by adolescent psychologists to reduce cognitive problems and improve the psychological health of anxious adolescent girls.
