Introduction: The conflict of work-family conditions is often accompanied by significant challenges in the family and the occupational and psychological performance of individuals, the extent of these pressures is more striking in satellite employees and their families. Accordingly, the present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of emagotherapy on job burnout and cognitive flexibility in satellite employees of ports.
Method: The present study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design and a three-month follow-up with a control group. The statistical population included all satellite employees of southern Iranian ports in the fall of 1403, from which the port of Khorramshahr was randomly selected. Then, 36 people were selected purposefully and based on the entry criteria and randomly placed in two experimental and control groups (18 people in each group). The research tools included the Cognitive Flexibility Questionnaire (Dennis and Vander-Waal, 2010) and the Burnout Questionnaire (Maslach, 2001). The experimental group received 7 sessions of emagotherapy intervention. Repeated measures analysis of variance and Bonferroni post hoc test in SPSS version 26 were used to analyze the data.
Results: The results showed that the effectiveness of emagotherapy on burnout and cognitive flexibility in satellite employees was significant (P<0.05) and the effect size of each variable was reported to be 16.5 and 13.6 percent, respectively, and these effects were stable in the follow-up phase.
Conclusion: It is suggested that family and career counseling professionals use this treatment as an effective intervention to reduce burnout and cognitive flexibility in satellite employees.
