Abstract Background: In today’s competitive environment, supply chain management plays a vital role in enhancing organizational effectiveness. The pharmaceutical supply chain, due to its complexity, multiple stakeholders, and direct link to community health, is of particular importance. Sustainability in this chain, considering economic, social, and environmental dimensions, has emerged as a modern approach in health systems. This study aimed to prioritize the factors influencing sustainable pharmaceutical supply chain management in hospital pharmacies of Yazd in 2024.
methods: This applied, descriptive-analytical study was conducted in the third quarter of 2024. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire based on the SCOR model, including 59 questions across five dimensions: reliability, responsiveness, flexibility, costs, and asset management. The study population consisted of hospital pharmacies in public, private, and charity sectors of Yazd. A total of 20 pharmaceutical experts were purposefully selected. Data were analyzed using Friedman, Wilcoxon, and Spearman correlation tests.
Results: The results indicated significant differences among the dimensions of sustainable pharmaceutical supply chain management (P<0.001). Reliability and responsiveness were identified as the highest priorities, while asset management ranked the lowest. Correlation analysis revealed a positive and significant relationship between reliability and flexibility, costs, and asset management. Responsiveness also showed strong correlations with flexibility and asset management. These findings suggest that strengthening reliability and responsiveness can act as levers for improving other dimensions. Conclusion: The findings highlight the necessity of an integrated approach in pharmaceutical supply chain management. Enhancing reliability and flexibility, along with cost control, improved responsiveness, and effective asset management, can ensure the sustainability of this chain. It is recommended that health policymakers focus on developing technological infrastructures, increasing transparency, and reinforcing accountability systems in hospital pharmacies.
